Mr Frisbee aka Nik Vaughn is a polymath, a multi instrumentalist, artist, dj & producer . An Essex boy who grew up in Southend in the 80's with a love of portable cassette recording, Evil Knievel & hitting things with sticks. As a DJ at 15 on the first wave of UK hip hop it wasn't long before he was warming up for his heroes Ice T, KRS 1 & Cash Money. He says" I took a year out to DJ abroad at 18 and that cemented my desire to be involved with music for the rest of my life". Back in Britain with a list of credits as a session musician Nik started to produce his own music under the name Mr Frisbee, blending funk, breaks, electro swing & hip hop. His music has now been featured in films & adverts worldwide. He reflects, " the fact that I play all the instruments myself was born out of necessity as I couldn't afford to pay session musicians at the start and it gives me the opportunity to work at speed." The exposure of recent remixes & productions have allowed Nik to self produce "Full English Break Beats" a full sample library of Mr Frisbee sounds for Samplephonics out this year & "Salute" a vinyl release on East Beats West records.
Mr Frisbee is currently rehearsing with a full live show for a string of festival dates this summer "It's gaining momentum," Nik says. "With the band, we're getting excited, there's a lot of improvisational stuff happening on stage so no two gigs are the same, we have some great guests and phenomenal musicians, its definitely a party!"
