The Captain
The Captain is the dance-orientated sideproject by Italian Dj, musician and producer Fab Samperi. Initially breaking the scene through his wild remixes and mashups, The Captain is now a well established and notorious name in the Funky Breaks and Ghetto Funk scene. Many of his tracks have been gaining support from the likes of Krafty Kuts, Freddy Fresh, Ursula 1000, Fort Knox Five, Skeewiff, Smoove, and Featurecast to name a few.
Picking up inspiration from the golden decades of classic rhythm & blues, soul, latin, hip-hop, rock-n-roll (as well as from the most modern sounds of dance music), he crafts a very diverse and distinctive groove in his productions, which certainly gives him a unique sound signature. His highly praised output of vinyl and digi singles released on labels such as Resense, Goodgroove, ESL and Ghettofunk have been topping the Juno Charts over the past few years.
This fast growing success and well earned reputation led him to remix great artists such as Ursula 1000 & musical icon Fred Schneider from the legendary B-52´s rock band. In the past three years we have seen him get extensive exposure through national and international radio airplay (BBC, WDR, RAI, Triple J) national radio interviews and a TV appearance on Dutch´s national Channel 3. His latest release vinyl release on Ghetto Funk is already one of the most sought after records of the year and reads more like a mission statement than a track listing. Bam! The man is pure ‘more cowbell’.
